Day 01: Arrival in Nairobi
Upon your arrival, you will be warmly greeted by Lamara’s friendly guide at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. They will assist you in transferring to the prestigious Sarova Stanley Hotel, where you will check in and receive a briefing on what promises to be your best safari in Africa. Take this time to relax and enjoy your overnight stay in a standard room, surrounded by luxury and comfort.
Day 02: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
The journey from Nairobi to Amboseli National Park covers approximately 240 kilometers and takes about 4.5 hours, depending on traffic. After enjoying breakfast, you will depart for Amboseli, arriving at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge for check-in and lunch. Spend your afternoon at leisure, exploring the lodge’s amenities. In the evening, savor a delightful dinner and enjoy a restful overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 03: Exploring Amboseli National Park
Start your day with an early morning game drive, returning to the lodge for breakfast. Weather permitting, you’ll have the chance to see the breathtaking views of the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, a spectacular backdrop for your captivating wildlife photography. Continue with an afternoon game drive, where you’ll encounter diverse wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, and numerous bird species. You’ll also visit the expansive Lake Amboseli, which is usually dry outside the rainy season. Conclude your day with dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 04: Amboseli to Aberdare National Park
Traveling from Amboseli to Aberdare National Park is approximately 390 kilometers, taking about 8.5 hours. After breakfast, you will depart with a packed lunch, passing through Nairobi on your way. Arrive at the Ark Lodge in the afternoon for check-in and lunch. From the lodge, enjoy the unique experience of observing wildlife from the balcony or underground bunkers. Occasionally, you may receive alerts about special animals visiting the flood-lit waterhole at night. After dinner, unwind and enjoy your overnight stay at the Ark Lodge.
Day 05: Aberdare National Park
Begin your day with breakfast served at the Ark Lodge. Spend your morning enjoying the lodge’s amenities at your leisure before relishing a diverse lunch selection. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive from 2 PM to 6 PM, where you can snack on refreshments along the way.
Day 06: Aberdare National Park to Buffalo Springs Reserve
After breakfast, set out for Buffalo Springs National Reserve, a journey of about 4.5 hours. Upon arrival, check in at Ashnil Samburu Camp and enjoy lunch before embarking on an afternoon game drive. In the evening, return to the camp for dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.
Day 07: Buffalo Springs National Reserve
Start your day with an early morning game drive, followed by breakfast at the camp. Spend the mid-morning at leisure before enjoying lunch. In the afternoon, venture out for another game drive. Buffalo Springs is renowned for its unique wildlife, including the Gerenuk (Twiga gazelle), Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryxes, Grant’s gazelles, reticulated giraffe, waterbucks, and large herds of elephants. You’ll often see them along the Ewaso Nyiro River, where many animals gather to drink and bathe. Return to Ashnil Samburu Camp for a hearty dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.
Day 08: Buffalo Springs to Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Enjoy breakfast at Ashnil Camp before departing for Ol Pejeta Conservancy, approximately a 3.5-hour drive covering 145 kilometers. Check in at Sweetwater’s Serena Camp and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a relaxed game drive. Ol Pejeta is home to the largest population of black rhinos, as well as rehabilitated chimpanzees. Keep an eye out for Kenya’s Big Five during your visit. After an exciting day, indulge in dinner and a blissful overnight stay at the camp.
Day 09: Ol Pejeta Conservancy to Lake Nakuru National Park
From Ashnil Camp, travel to Lake Nakuru National Park, covering about 160 kilometers in approximately 4.5 hours. After breakfast, begin your journey with a brief stop at Thompson Falls to enjoy the scenic waterfall. Check in at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge upon arrival and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, head out for a game drive. Lake Nakuru is known for its diverse wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas, as well as the Rothschild giraffe and both black and white rhinos. This park is also famous for its flamingo population, making it a birdwatcher’s paradise. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge.
Day 10: Lake Nakuru National Park to Maasai Mara National Reserve
The journey from Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara is approximately 270 kilometers and takes around 6 hours. After breakfast, your capable driver will take you to Maasai Mara National Reserve. Upon arrival at Mara Sopa Lodge, check in, relax, and enjoy lunch. Later, embark on an afternoon game drive before returning to the lodge for a delicious dinner and a restful overnight stay.
Day 11: Maasai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, set out for a morning game drive, packing a lunchbox to keep you energized throughout the day. The Maasai Mara is renowned for its spectacular wildebeest migration from July to October, often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world. This reserve boasts abundant wildlife, including Africa’s Big Five. Surrounding Maasai villages add to the cultural richness of the experience. In the evening, enjoy dinner, a captivating cultural performance by traditional Maasai dancers, and an amazing overnight stay at Mara Sopa Lodge.
Day 12: Departure
On your final day, enjoy breakfast before checking out of the lodge. Begin your journey back to Nairobi, a distance of approximately 290 kilometers, which takes about 6.5 hours by road or 1 hour by charter flight to Wilson Airport. During the trip, you’ll enjoy lunch, prepared and packed by Mara Sopa Lodge. Your guide will drop you off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight or your pre-arranged hotel accommodation.
