Kenya has many tourist attractions ranging from the sandy beaches at the coast, diverse flora and fauna, game parks, cultural heritage, scenic landscapes just to mention but a few.
This is a 14 day travel itinerary that will take you through the diverse attractions that Kenya has to offer the world.
Day 1: NAIROBI
Nairobi is the capital and largest city of Kenya. It is the hub of the country; therefore most activities start and end here. One such activity is tourism. Most tourists start an end their tours of the country in Nairobi.
Upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, one of our representatives will pick you up and take you to your reserved accommodation facility. You will be checked in and have an overnight stay at the Boma hotel. You will get to unwind while enjoying the amenities available at the hotel.
Day 2: NAIROBI – SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
Have breakfast at the Boma hotel and depart for Samburu National Reserve. Accommodation will be at the Samburu Sopa Lodge. You will get checked into the lodge, have a rest while relaxing and enjoying the facilities at the Lodge. Later you will have lunch and go for an afternoon game drive. In the evening you get to have dinner and have a restful overnight stay.
DAY 3: SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
Have breakfast at the Samburu Sopa Lodge and then proceed to go on a game drive at the Samburu National Reserve. One of the famous safari destinations in East Africa, Samburu National Reserve is located in Northern Kenya and is a premier game reserve situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, on the Northern Part of Kenya. The reserve is a home to a variety of animals including elephants, lions, cheetahs, zebras and giraffes. The game drive will last the entire day with options of carrying packed lunch boxes or going for the morning drive, coming back to the lodge for lunch and then embarking on the afternoon game drive.
DAY 4: SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE – OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY
The journey from Samburu to Ol Pejeta takes 3-4 hours by road. You get to enjoy an early breakfast then set out for the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Accommodation will be at the Sweetwaters Serena Camp where you will check-in, rest for a bit then have a nice lunch. In the afternoon you get to go for game drive. Ol Pejeta is known to have the largest population of the black rhino in East Africa and it is also home to rehabilitated chimpanzees from Rwanda. The big five of Africa can be spotted within the conservancy, and hundreds of other wildlife species roam freely. In the evening you get to have a sumptuous dinner and a relaxing overnight stay at the camp.
DAY 5&6: OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY
Breakfast will be served in the morning after which you will proceed to enjoy a morning game drive at the conservancy. You will be taken back to the camp for a nice lunch. After lunch there will be an afternoon game drive. Ol Pejeta Conservancy is home to the Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino – black, southern white, and northern white), as well as cheetah and wild dog. There are endangered Grévy’s zebra and Jackson’s hartebeest in the 283-hectare Endangered Species Enclosure, which is also where the last northern white rhinos live. Unusually for a safari area, you might also see the conservancy’s Boran cattle herds. Learning how cattle grazing fits into Ol Pejeta’s conservation plan is fascinating. DAY 7&8: LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK
The journey from Ol Pejeta to Lake Nakuru takes 4-5 hours drive. In the morning you get to enjoy breakfast then hit the road for the Lake Nakuru National Park. There will be a short stop at the Thompson waterfalls, where you will get to enjoy the beautiful view of the falls, the touch of fresh water and the amazing cool breeze that comes from the fast moving water. Accommodation will be at the Ziwa Bush Lodge where you will be checked in, have a little relaxation and then lunch. After lunch you will go for an afternoon game drive. The park is famous for the abundant flamingos found at the Lake as well as hundreds of other bird species. There is also a wide array of wildlife found in the park including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. The Rothschild giraffe as well as black and white rhino are also found here
DAY 9: LAKE NAKURU – MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara is 6 hours away by road. You will have breakfast in the morning and then set out to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Accommodation will be at the Mara Sekenani, where you will be checked in, rest for a bit and later have lunch. There will be an afternoon game drive. After the game drive you will return back to the camp for a sumptuous dinner and a blissful overnight stay.
DAY 10: MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
Morning breakfast will be served after which you will head for a game drive for the entire day. A packed lunch box will be prepared for you for the game drive. Alternatively, you can choose to go for the morning and afternoon game drives coming back to the lodge for a sumptuous hot lunch. The Maasai Mara is ‘The World Cup of Wildlife’, making it one of the most prime destinations for wildlife safaris in Africa and there is no better place in the world to be. The Wildebeest Migration which takes place at the Maasai Mara is nothing short of amazing. It is one of the things you have to add to your bucket list. Best time to be in Kenya for it is July – October although Kenya is a great year round destination. In the evening you will get to enjoy dinner and a restful overnight at the Sekenani Safari Camp.
DAY 11: MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
Morning breakfast will be served after which there will be a morning game drive. After the morning game drive you will be taken to the camp for lunch. In the afternoon you will have leisure activities while enjoying amenities available at the camp. In the evening dinner will be served and you get to enjoy a bonfire and a peaceful overnight stay at Sekenani camp.
DAY 12: MAASAI MARA – LAMU
The journey from the Mara to Lamu Island covers a distance of 641 km and takes approximately 5 hours by road. Lamu is an island that’s a 10-minute boat ride from the mainland and about 360km up the coast from Mombasa. After breakfast at the Mara Eden Safari Camp, we will hit the road for the coastal Lamu Island. Accommodation will be at the Majlis Hotel Lamu where you will be checked in, relax for a bit and then have lunch. In the afternoon you will have a relaxing and breathtaking Zion Dhow boat ride. This will take you for an excursion in the ocean. In the evening you will have dinner and a blissful overnight stay at the Majlis Hotel Lamu.
DAY 13: LAMU
In the morning breakfast will be served. The activity of the day will be visiting Lamu Old Town. Lamu Town is one of the oldest living Swahili towns in East Africa. Streets are narrow, buildings are made of coral, doors are intricately designed, and there are only three cars. Some motorcycles are starting to make an unwelcome appearance, but donkeys mostly still run the show. After visiting Lamu Old Town you will be taken back to the Majlis Hotel. Here you can choose to have relaxation at the beach, swim and enjoy the amenities available at the hotel. Later in the evening dinner will be served and you get to have a restful overnight stay.
DAY 14: DEPARTURE
This day brings us to the end of our safari. We now head back to Nairobi, a journey of approximately 710kms, 9-10 hours drive by road, and 45 min to 1 hour by flight to the Wilson Airport.
In the morning you will have breakfast and then proceed to check out of the Hotel. We will start our journey back to Nairobi and en route you will have lunch which was prepared and packed by the Majlis Hotel and 2 or 3 stopovers. Our guide driver will drop you at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight or to your hotel based on your pre-arranged accommodation plan.
