Safari Overview

7 DAYS  6 NIGHTS

A longer beach retreat with a shorter safari option suits the needs of some of our  guests who are planning a first time or repeat bush and beach trip to the East African coastline in Kenya. You may wish to board a flight that arrives into Mombasa, sometimes on a weekly charter flight. You can then spend a few days on the beachfront then journey out into parks and reserves like Tsavo, Amboseli or even Masai Mara for two to three nights for safari game driving, village visits, nature walks, hiking and other wilderness activities before returning to your seaside hotel for the remaining period of your vacation. The third option is to have equal time on safari and at the seashore.

From Nairobi to Aberdare is approximately 156 km. That is a 4-5 hours drive by road. After breakfast at the Concord hotel, you will embark on the journey to the Aberdare National Park.

Aberdare National Pak is the best known as the site where in 1952, Princess Elizabeth found out she was queen after she learned about the death of her father King George VI, whilst staying at the Treetops Hotel. Aberdare National Park was established in 1950 with an aim to conserve and protect the Aberdare Mountains. It is a water catchment area as it is an undestroyed virgin forest and most of the rivers in Kenya start from the Aberdare National park. It is the source of water that services the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. Accommodation and check-in will be at the Ark Lodge for lunch and rest. After lunch there will be an afternoon game drive. At the Ark Lodge, you will get to watch wildlife from the lodge balcony and under-ground bunkers. Occasionally you will receive alarms at night from your room when special animals come to the flood-lit water-hole. You get to enjoy dinner and overnight stay here at the Ark Lodge.

DAY 3: ABERDARE NATIONAL PARK – LAKE NAIVASHA

The journey from the Aberdare to Lake Naivasha is approximately 3 hours by road. After breakfast at the Ark Lodge, we will proceed to the Lake Naivasha.

Deep blue lakes, rich acacia forests, extinct volcanoes, waterfalls, imposing towers and bottomless gorges – you’ll be amazed at the variety and drama of the parks, lakes and preserves surrounding Lake Naivasha. Here the birdlife is full, varied and constant as is the parade of wildlife with over 100species of hunters and grazers. As befitting such a variety of landforms, you’ll find more types of safaris here than anywhere else on earth, each one allowing you to enjoy a different aspect of the wildlife! Take a water safari to get close to the birdlife, then hike, bike or even horseback ride past zebra, giraffe and antelope. The possibilities, like the wildlife, are endless. The Lake Naivasha Area is a constant gift of surprise, colour and nature’s bounty. You’ll find plenty for everyone here.

Accommodation will be at the Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort where you will be checked in, have a bit of rest and lunch. After lunch there will be an afternoon game drive and you will get to engage in other activities such as boat riding. In the evening you get to enjoy dinner and have a restful overnight stay at the resort.

The Maasai Mara is ‘The World Cup of Wildlife’, making it one of the most prime destinations for wildlife safaris in Africa and there is no better place in the world to be. The Wildebeest Migration which takes place at the Maasai Mara is nothing short of amazing. It is one of the things you have to add to your bucket list. Best time to be in Kenya for it is July – October although Kenya is a great year round destination. In the evening you will get to enjoy dinner, bonfire and a restful overnight at the Mara Eden Safari Camp.
